My aftermarket set of powered tow mirrors does the exact same thing. Both my '99 & the '95.
I tried swapping the wires around at the plug when installing them (didnt pull the glass out) ... but never got it right. Multiple combinations and it wouldn't fix it... Very frustrating, so I just left it. Not a huge issue, just frustrating that I couldn't figure it out at the plug.
Did you ever get it working?

There is an internal light. Aftermarket tow mirrors have the same issue on the left vs right. I ended up adding a secondary ground in my tow mirror. Nick the hick on this forum had some good info.
Your mirrors were 3 wire tho rite?

@nickthehick78 ive been told you may have some info regarding the wiring
i ran into something like this a few years ago when i swapped to tow mirrors. i have the wiring written up on here somewhere. there should be a post by me all about wiring them to work properly with factory switch. i can tell you it is doable, mine work prefect still to this day.

You used a much later tow mirror set, this a stock switch, and mirrors normal 4 wire set.

From what i could see on your rewire honestly it's hard for me to tell. So if that metri-pack connector is the right one for your mirror this is how it should be wired. Each mirror has two primary circuits and two circuits spliced together. The 93 and 95 some colors have changed. So between your connector and your photos here's a diagram. I don't have a 96. Good luck.
