Is there a difference in the gearbox between a truck with vacuum brakes and hydroboosted brakes?
My 1998 2500 Suburban, 5.7 gasser... the frame is too badly rotted so I'm Vortec/4L80/263 8-lug axle swapping my 1988 single cab short bed 1500 TBI truck.
Can I keep the 1500 gear box?

I’m 99% sure there’s not. When I bought a new gearbox there were no options except ratio.

It's my understanding that there are basically two sizes of gearboxes. The 1500 will have the smaller one, but I don't think there is any reason it won't work with the hydrobooster..... I don't think the guys that swap to hydroboost usually swap the steering gear. I've got a 3500 with factory hydroboost, so I've never studied the swap in detail.
