Hi All, I am looking for NV4500 mechanical (not hydraulic pumps) pto numbers (Parker Chelsea/Muncie/other???). The gears, and thus the numbers for the NV4500 are very specific. My truck is a 97 3500HD, (transmission gearing difference from the earlier NV4500's (and maybe the 3500 HD, I dont know.). (Other site online = Muncie 465 pto is NOT compatible, unless you change the gear in it. they have a specific tooth count for the trans, and its different even between the early and late nv4500's.) There is some talk online that the the NV4500 PTO is the same gear as a NP205 PTO, but I have no proof of this. All help and info appreciated.

Mechanical? As in to run some old farm implement or something? All the PTO's I'm used to are for operating a hydraulic pump, like for a wrecker unit, bucket lift, things like that.

If by mechanical you simply mean cable-operated to engage it as opposed to a hydraulic pump run off the accessory belt drive.. OK. I had a PTO and hydraulic pump off an old wrecker I bought with an NV4500 but I can't find the pics of the unit when I put it up for sale. I searched like a fiend of the past 15+ minutes and there's just too many files on my network drive. :( don't recall if it showed the # on the PTO anyway.

My suggestion, call a wrecker builder that has been around a while. Maybe Detroit Wrecker would know?

Yes, a mechanical is what I am looking for. I have a Holmes wrecker bed with a gear drive Tulsa winch that I want to put on a truck that has an NV4500, so I need the numbers for an NV4500 mechanical PTO.

I'm not certain such a thing exists. :( NV4500's came into being for 1992 year models; if the SM465 part does not work as you say, you might be out of luck.

here is what I have got so far.

1. Muncie does not make the forward/reverse PTO I need.

2 Chelsea, (Parker/ Chelsea Dana352 series PTO 352XSFCXW3XD/ 352XSFCX-W3XD for

NV-4500, NV-4500HD (5.61 Low) (Chevy build date 2-17-94 & Later*)

but its $1000.00, plus the adapter kit.

I will be looking into the earlier gear ratio tomorrow,

* somethings off because I thought NV4500 to 1996 were 6.34, and after 1996, 5.61 (someone please correct me if I am wrong because I may be using a 1992 NV4500)

The PTO runs off the 3rd gear of the countershaft I think. The earlier NV4500 (92-94) actually has a different 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear than the later ones, so they won't swap. I actually have a PTO for an early model (came with when I bought it). I swapped the trans in for an SM465, and it won't mesh correctly with the 465, despite the 3rd gear ratio being nearly identical for both.

The 1992-1994 NV4500's (RPO MT8) have the taller first/reverse at 6.34. 1995-up (RPO MW3) had the 5.61 first/reverse; that manufacture date they're looking at of 2-17-94 probably coincides with transmissions supplied in 1995 year model trucks.

Yep 95 was the first year of the taller 1st gear ratio and the last year of the external slave cylinder... 1996 had the internal slave.

Muncie Reversible RG RL 83 PTO Series
Muncie RG6DN7913C1BX C=cable, same as Chelsea 352XS FC XW3XD/
Muncie RG6DN7913L1BX L=lever/ same as Chelsea 352XS FC XY3XD/
C Note Input Gear Part No. 5-P-1064 RPO code MT8 91 - 2/94 (May be 5-P-10645)
C Note Input Gear Part No. 5-P-1063 RPO code Mw3 after 2/94 (May be 5-P-10635)

Both Muncie and Chelsea will custom build these PTO's but they are expensive. Muncie may not be able to build for the RPO code MT8 91 - 2/94 NV4500, as I could find nothing on it.

got some more numbers, more correct ones, as follows,

CURRENT Chelsea series 352,
(352*SFB case Assembly arrangement 3, (pass side))
352XSFBXY3XD CABLE, 1063 GEAR for RPO code MT8 91 - 2/94
352XSFBXY3XD LEVER, 1063 GEAR for RPO code MT8 91 - 2/94
352XSFCXW3XD CABLE, 1064 GEAR for RPO code Mw3 after 2/94
352XSFCXY3XD LEVER, 1064 GEAR for RPO code Mw3 after 2/94

Chelsea also makes them air lever controlled as well as an electronically actuated (power door lock solenoid) if you got the bucks to spend.

PREVIOUS CHELSEA #'s, as in salvage yard or rebuilders,

442XSFBXY3XD CABLE, 1063 GEAR for RPO code MT8 91 - 2/94
442XSFBXY3XD LEVER, 1063 GEAR for RPO code MT8 91 - 2/94
442XSFCXW3XD CABLE, 1064 GEAR for RPO code Mw3 after 2/94
442XSFCXY3XD LEVER, 1064 GEAR for RPO code Mw3 after 2/94

NOTE, WHEN INSTALLING A 442, HAND TURN THE TRANSMISSION AS THE 442 SERIES (442KSBQ) WAS ALSO USED ON THE SM465 & Spicer ES-42-5A & 5D, HAVE ALMOST IDENTICAL GEAR PITCH HELIX ANGLE, AND ARE SUBJECT TO BEING THE WRONG APPLICATION if the tags is missing.

INCORRECT INSTALLATION
WILL DESTROY A TRANSMISSION
IN ABOUT 15 MINUTES OF RUN TIME.

(Always check the tags if you can, if not, make sure the transmission ID is 100%),

Muncie makes one under TG6SU8007C2CX, for cable, or you can configure your own at
