On my 1997 ecsb 4x4. Any pointers on replacing my power steering box? Any thing that I should upgrade? Thanks in advance!

I'd consider adding an inline filter to the low pressure line on the power steering pump. This would be the time to add a cooler too if you need it.

Replace the lower rag joint and pitman arm while you are in there. Buy a quality box, I bought a redhead from Seattle. Truly amazing steering in my dually.

What kind of fluid should I run? I hear guys running just regular power steering fluid and I hear others running md3 ATF.
Where would u pick up a filter?

Regular ATF will be just fine. you can pick up a filter from any autoparts store. All that is needed to install it is just cut the return line somewhere where there is plenty of space, and put the filter in-line.

YES! !!!
do that. New "rag joint" and a new pitman arm for the next 100,000 miles and you'll be happy you only had to do it once

I have to do Pittman arm any way mine is shot. The only reason im doing my box is it's leaking fluid like a siv out of the main shaft/pit man arm shaft what ever you call it. Thanks for all the advice!

You can get a seal kit for that thing if thats all thats wrong with it. Just a couple of stacked seals in there and a snap ring to hold them in.
