I have a 97 c1500 and I wanna do a 3/5 drop kit. The kit I want (which the most affordable for me) recommends a c-notch and shorter shocks. The kit comes with 3 inch front lowering springs and a 6 inch rear flip kit and 1 inch lift shackles. I'm not sure if it is necessary for new shocks and a c-notch. Any ideas?

with a 5” drop and no notch the axle would be touching or at least very close to the bump stops at ride height. I don’t think new shocks are a requirement but shock extenders are.

alright anything else I could do that's budget friendly you would recommend?
1993 C1500 , with 3/4 drop. 3" Belltech coils, 4" street edge leafs with Belltech shocks on all 4 corners, No notch and total install took less than 4 hrs total by myself! Total parts cost was about $650. If you go anymore than 4" in the rear you pretty much have to notch these trucks , some people will say otherwise though. I removed the rear bumpstops and cut the front ones in half!

I think it would look good and I ran my 3/4 with stock shocks, wasn’t the best ride but it worked fine
