Info on tbi 350 swap to tbi 454???

Getting ready to replace the good 1992 350 with a good 1990 454...I have couple questions


Are the serpentine accessories brackets the same size

Any wiring difference

I know I need 454 exhaust manifold but is the OEM y-pipe different sizes

Any more differences???

Yes, I'd expect differences in the accessory drive, some wiring changes, and the exhaust.

I'd expect larger/stiffer springs, and a bigger radiator. Perhaps with an oil cooler, too.

Don't get me started on the TH700/4L60/driveshaft/rear axle

I yeah let's get started haha...its a 1992 c3500 SRW, 4.10 gears, rebuild 4l80, have 3 core radiator

Get the measurements for a 454-sized radiator. You have a 3-core, but is it as tall/wide as the 454 spec? Does it have the oil cooler? Is there a PS cooler?

Okay--trans, driveshaft, axle should be good-to-go.

Do you have the 454 throttle body and computer/prom? Did '90 have a TBI intake manifold, or a Q-Jet manifold with a TBI spacer allowing for coolant to pass through?

Would your vehicle have come with a "hot fuel module" if it had been 454 from the beginning?

Yes radiator is good to go also.
The truck is originally equipped with TBI 350.
The 454 has the carb intake with the TBI adapter plate that allows coolant flow
Questions on 454 ecm would inI the 454 ecm or could have a chip made for the 350 to 454 conversion?

You'll definitely have to tune it. Do you have a PCM already set up for the 4L80E? That's another story, there's other threads addressing that. Did your 92 350 have a 4L60E or a 700R4/4L60? Maybe you can find a PCM and wiring harness for both the 454 and 4L80E in a bone yard?

It came factory with 4l80
Would a chip work or would have to use a 454 ecm??

The early 90s 350 serpentine belt bracket and early 90s 454 serpentine brackets are the same size?

I'm keeping the 1990 454 motor throttle bottle
I know the years different with TPS sensors are different connectors
Motors staying factory specs. Also
