Hopefully its the CV and not the hub. I couldn't spin it fast enough to get the sound with tire off, it sounds more like its behind the hub though.

My money is on the CV since the boot is torn. Were you able to check for play in the hub?

Yeah it was all nice and tight. If it isn't the CV making the noise at least the CV needed to be replaced anyway since the boot was torn.

Alright well I replaced the CV and the pop is gone but it still definitely has the grind. I swear it sounds like its coming from the passenger side of the rear really...I think I'll take it to a local shop one afternoon and have them put it up on a four post lift and we'll listen to it to try to find it.

bad u-joint maybe, could just be transmitting the sound forward and just seems like it is on the pass side

I thought about that too, and that is really a best case scenario. I'm gonna pin point it before throwing money at it though, learned my lessons the hard way on the 92 ha. Atleast the CV needed replacing anyway so it was worth a shot.

check fluid in the t-case, doesn't cost anything to check and it can cause transmitting noise like that too

Is it still making the noise when you spin that tire?
