If you actually removed the clear with a clay bar you really had to work at it. Your clear was already damaged, the clay bar had nothing to do with it unless you were doing it weekly or something. These trucks are notorious for paint fade on the roof and hood.

I've never had hood insulation on any of my cars, even the 500hp twin turbo one. It's definitely not gonna be an issue on something with this much space to dissipate heat.

I only used the clay bar once. Gently. Perhaps it was a coincidence, since these trucks are notorious for roof & hood paint fade. Oh well, I now have a "Sunburned Silverado".

My 91 never had any insulation when I bought it in 95. It's at 350000km, 100000km with full length headers, have not seen any evidence that it was affecting the paint. As someone said, lots of room under these trucks for airflow.

Nice! I may have to think about that. Add another $30 for retainer pins and clips, tax, shipping, yada yada yada, it's still over $100 but, not too bad
