Never heard of an NV4500 being put in a 1500? We talk about it here plenty :) you could absolutely order it. But yes, *normally* a 1500 w/F44, and even a 6 lug 2500, would come with the same light duty transmission a 1500 would come with.

My regular ol' maroon '94 C1500 GMC had an NV4500 from factory, confirmed via SPID label.

well that is very interesting that you could order a 1500 with an nv4500 and some came that way I would think that they are very rare

Rare for sure, as most people wouldn't think to order a heavy duty transmission for a light duty truck. But here she is. Factory optioned tow hooks on a 2WD, too!

I grew up in my dad's '93 k1500. It was a Z71 with the nv4500 and 14 bolt rear end. I recently picked up a '92 nearly identical to the one he had except mines not a Z71 but it's also got factory tow hooks! I didn't know these were so hard to find. I'll post some pics later. Does anyone know the extent of all they came with vs. the regular half tons?? Seems like people disagree on all they came with. From what I've heard it's an extra rear leaf, nv4500, SF 14 bolt rear, 2500 front knuckles bearings brakes, 2500 lower control arms, and 2500 torsion bars.
I've gotta put a clutch in mine are they the same clutch as an nv3500? thanks.
