The opposite is actually true of reliability. If you had something as outrageous as 5.29's (common on something like a Toyota with bigger tires) the gear set would actually be weaker.
3.42's, 3.73's, 4.10's there isn't going to be any difference.

i can find you gears, the 9.5 is really easy to setup, unlike the 8.5 where you end up pulling bearings constantly off the carrier to change shims
