Just FYI, I did the throttle blade mod on my red truck ('97 C1500 4.3L) and didn't like it. Made the throttle feel more like an on/off switch than a linear control. From other discussions here on the subject over the years it seems like the V6 trucks may be more sensitive to this than the V8s for whatever reason. Either way, if you're going to do this I'd recommend grabbing a spare factory throttle blade so if you end up not liking it you can go back to stock. I did after a few months.

me and my former friend did this on his truck that was not stock but not enough mods to be mild either and it did make an improvement no negative effects but his truck is a 350 not a v6

Cold ice water down the intake. Works great on tbi and carbs. Not really a mod but helps get rid of carbon and really works.

what is really bad is if you remove the rivets that hold the restrictor/lip in place all you need to do is remove the lip when you do leave the plate alone
