I'm not sure if this belongs here or or in the towing section. I have a half ton that I sas'd awhile ago. I use it to pull my pulling truck around during the summer months. I figured at some point the 28 foot gooseneck would break the truck in half, and I also wanted to add some shock hoops. To do the shock hoops, I first wanted to plate the front of the frame with the WFO kit I purchased awhile back. I also had purchased a 1993 K2500 6 lug light duty truck that had an NV4500 that I would rebuild and swap into mine. I decided that I would use the rear part of that truck's frame to "box" the back part of my frame. My frame was getting fairly rusty, so I wanted to stop that before it got out of hand. All of this added up to me tearing my truck down to the bare frame. I'm sure this is ridiculous to most people, but I figured some of you might enjoy it. Pictures to follow.

The second I cut the front suspension off of my truck it became illegal to operate on public roads in this state. I dispatch a fleet of commercial motor vehicles, and I am acutely aware of the laws governing such things. I appreciate your concern, but I chose to do this to make my truck stronger. I realize that GVWR on these types of vehicles cannot be increased in this state. That is not the point of this modification. If I were to be stopped by a state inspector, towing or not, the GVWR would be the least of my concern.
