Truck Hoarder
Good to know, the fuel cutting off sounds weird, but if it benefits all the other ways too its definitely something to consider. The only code I get right now is for the pass side converter being gutted, but here in NY anything over 8500gvw doesn't need to be plugged in, so I just sqeak by. I messaged one company and they can delete rear o2, egr, and evap systems from my existing computer if I wanted. There's a few interesting things that started happening after I got my "box" from lextech.
I definitely got better fuel economy to start. I use "aCar" (Its an app) to track my milage and all other maintenance on my vehicles. After I installed the 0411 my average fuel economy went up 1.5mpg. So even on a base tune that makes the truck "runable" its doing better for my wallet than the black box did.
The fuel cuts out completely after you've let off of the accelerator for about 3 seconds. I suppose this has helped my milage, but nevertheless I was a little worried about what it was when it first started happening. I wouldn't mind the time delay, or whatever it is, being longer as I've found there are plenty of times where it has kicked in at the same time I've started to push the accelerator again.
I feel my acceleration and general driveability has improved. Off-idle the engine definitely runs much smoother. Idle is still choppy but I have yet to be tuned. I also have torque management turned off. Risky... but god does it feel good to lay down some stripes whenever I want to.
You can get Tow/haul mode but since you have a manual that doesn't help you at all. Something else for other people interested though: In 3rd gear, the TC will lock just like it would in 4th gear. Not sure if it did that before the swap... but it definitely happens.
What CEL do you have? For the cats? If you get a 0411 you can get that written in to be turned off. Is your pickup emissions exempt due to the weight class or anything?
