Cruise control & a stick. Did you get this to work? Did the factory offer this? Often wondered if this was possible with a stickshift.
I would like to add this to my '97. Without ever seeing this in a GMT400, I'm guessing that the cruise only works in 5th.
Does this work the same as an auto where tapping the brakes turns it off? Or is it cancelled by stepping on the clutch peddle? I know that with an auto, if you pop the trans into neutral while on cruise control, the engine will freely rev up to the limiter. (oops!) With that being the case, if, while on cruise, it would be necessary to cancel the cruise before downshifting with a stickshift. (It's just a 6, so shift happens!) To me, the cancelling feature of the cruise would make more sense to be associated to the clutch pedal, as opposed to the brake pedal. My feet do enough dancing on the pedals, without having the need for one more step to the brake pedal to kill the cruise before downshifting.
The cruise control on my '98 is one of my most used & favourite features of the truck. It provides more consistant mileage, & fewer tickets. I really do miss not having it on the '97.
