4L60E Recommendations

Well it’s time to replace my transmission before it craps out on me. It’s grinding/dragging in 1st and rattling starting at 35 mph. It’s got a 120K miles on it so I’d say it’s due. I was wondering what y’all recommend. I don’t really want to fool with a 4L80 swap. Do y’all have any recommendations on where to buy one from. I also have the option to rebuild a spare unit on my own time with my buddy that rebuilds them but getting our schedules aligned is rather difficult. Thanks!

So you are looking for a builder or online place? Or rebuilding it yourself?

If you have the interest, space, time, money (for a rebuild kit and a few specialized tools, but all of the Sonnax stuff are spendy!!!), and have an alternate vehicle, I'd say jump into learning how to do it yourself.

I am open to building one on the side but the only problem is a lack of time. I may end up having to buy a whole unit. I’m mainly looking for good recommendations on parts and units as a whole.

Has anyone used the $1800 JEGS 4L60E?
