Its probably much wider right?
Yeah, I found a video on YouTube once where a guy put one on his but for the life of me, I can't find the video so here I am revisiting an old thought. I do remember he did have the cut it in half and shorten it up a bit but the corners matched up beautifully. I've been wanting to do this to my 3500 for a few years now as I don't like the tiny stock bumper. I like a lower bumper that will at least hide as much as the body line does from a forward view and the angles and curves in the bumper almost make it look like it was designed for it.
The photo of the white truck is exactly how I invisioned mine with the same ram air hood. It really shakes up the front end giving it a beefy look. I'm not sure of the weight of the new bumpers but if they are lighter in weight, I'm sure your truck and pocket book will thank you over time by removing weight off he front end this making the bushings and ball joints last longer. Especially for someone going from a 950lb 6.5L to an 1,100lb 12v so shaving weight anywhere you can would help the IFS.
The rear bumper conversion is really simple. Just need 2 pieces of 2x2" square and 2 pieces of (I'd say atleast 1/4" thick) flat bat cut to size. Holes are already the same, just need longer bolts. 2x2" serves as the spacers between the mounts and the frame and the flat bar just adds rigidity when bolted through the trailer hitch mounting holes so the front swap can't be much more difficult except cutting and welding it back together. I'll take the new bumper over that dumb looking hood graft from the NBS any day.
There was a guy in a 6.5L group on Facebook running tow trucks that had move bumpers that sat super close to the ground like a Peterbilt drop bumper and probably weighed 200lbs.
Now the hard part is finding one of those new style bumpers without getting reamed. I can measure and cut it but I'll have to pay someone to weld it since I can't weld.
