I used to have a 66 D100 that had a 361 (any mopar guys please elaborate), I converted it to 4x4 and had a 3 on the tree. Last I heard its still on the road, dont know why because it was absolute S*** , fun project though. Cant wait to see more of this!
IIRC the 361 was a smaller displacement version of the 383/400/440 Mopar big block. Mainly for truck use, similar to the 366 Chevy truck" baby big block".

Ebay turbo ordered.

Shopping around for an LS. Prices are way higher than the last time I bought one.

I think I'm going to use a blow through carb and MSD ignition box. That'll make it more old school looking under the hood and I might even paint the entire engine turquoise to give it a more Dodge-y look.

Are you in the College Station area? How much are they running for now? Are you looking for a 5.3? Aren't the 4.8s supposed to be pretty popular for turbo (and often even less cost)?

I'm north of Austin. The local JY wants 2k for a Gen IV 5.3 with 150k miles. That's already pulled, but still. I found some on market place in the $800-$1000 area, but unknown condition.

4.8, 5.3, It doesn't really matter to me because I'm not going to try and wring every last bit of power out of it. It's more for the fun factor than anything else.

One of my buddies had a busted LH8 in a H3 hummer, bought a reman Jasper with 15k on a rebuild and it was something like 3k. These Gen IV's are getting like the price of our 400's, CRAZY!

Facebook Marketplace is your friend here. I see 5.3s everyday from $600-$800 from the Bob or Jose backyard part-out specials. Heck, I've seen running Silverado 1500s for $1500! These are going to be out in the bonnies though.

I picked up my 5.3 about 2 years ago from a guy parting out a suburban with a blown transmission. IIRC it was $400. I just had to go pull it myself, which was kinda of challenge being my first engine pull and a 4x4, but the guy was kind enough to help out.

Got it home and gave it a name: Stay Puft. The wife said it's "cute" which means I'm not in trouble. She's actually worried it might get stolen where I stashed it because it's close to the road behind our house. I'm hoping to have a bunch of stuff gone from the driveway by the time next week is over and I can move it.
