It's Tuesday Feb20 and today is a Good Day™

Carlos received 20 pairs of headlights this morning and he'll start shipping them tomorrow. The first two pairs go to a buyer in Sweden. Sometime later he'll ship to a buyer in Germany. All others are destined to the US.

This morning our supplier reported that taillights are in stock, so Carlos bought five pairs along with another 20 pairs of headlights. It'll probably be 2+ weeks before the order's delivered. Our supplier claims that we're buying the last of his current stock of headlights, meaning "he has no more" on hand. He has not said when he expects to receive more from Arteb.

So for now through the next many weeks Carlos will be busy shipping :waytogo:

It's Wednesday Feb28 and it's just another day.

Last week, two shipments were launched; both have cleared Brazil customs and are flying to their destinations as I type (one US, one Sweden).

Two more were launched this week, with a third set for Friday, all to the US. Most orders lately have been multiple-pair.

We're still awaiting receipt of a shipment of headlights and taillights (see prior post).

Meanwhile, our supplier hasn't indicated if/when they'll have more headlights in stock. For now we've got enough on-hand, and ordered / enroute, to meet near-term demand.

Current price is driven by us buying in single pair qty (meaning they’re priced high) so, delivered to US address, one pair is around US$400-410 (assuming 5.1:1 exchange rate).

I asked Carlos last night to query the jobber on his best price for 12pr. We haven’t bought a dozen since last year and don’t have current “12pr” pricing. The last time we checked, IIRC, it was about a 20-22% less per pair (i.e. 78-80% of single pair price).

I may seriously consider a “big buy”… Carlos has space to store them, I confirmed that with him yesterday.

We’ll query the jobber for his next “break point” in the “unit price vs. quantity” curve… maybe he can do even better at 25 or 50 pairs.

Odd Shipment Routing: A recent observation

On Feb23 Carlos launched a headlight shipment to Texas using the carrier's "Express" service, which we routinely use.

Something odd happened: Instead of being routed through Miami like every shipment we’ve ever made, it appeared in Chicago five days after it was cleared by Brazil customs (at 8:40am Saturday Mar2). Then, because it was destined to Texas, USPS boomeranged it south to the destination. It was delivered today, Mar4.

IIRC a shipment usually takes a day or two to arrive in Miami after it's been cleared by Brazil customs. Five days was long... and routed to Chicago instead of MIA.

The transit time wasn't otherwise atypical, at 10 days, although 8-day transit to the US seems to happen often.

Probably nothing more than logistical logjam due to the invasion of Florida by Northerners. Displaced by Coffee and Chinese furniture.

Thanks for the lights! Everything looks exactly as you described it. Lenses are perfect and no bullet holes despite the detour through Chicago.

My trucks will be a getting a Brazillian.

When installing, don't forget to orient the headlights' drain tubes down.

Carlos re-positions those tubes so that they fit nicely into the shipping boxes, but they need to be (re)oriented to point down upon installation.

You probably know this ^^^ but it's worth repeating for anyone reading. At least one owner has already make the (unintentional) mistake of installing the Artebs with one or more drain tubes pointing UP, see...

Arteb Brazil GMT400 headlight users thread

About 2 weeks in to having my Artebs installed and I got moisture in the driver's side headlight after going through the car wash. :( Up close you can see the water droplets sitting on the inside of the lens. I am pretty sure I have all of my drains pointed down. Is there anything I can do to...

THREE deliveries took place today Mar8, all shipped on different dates to these destinations:

- Alabama (shipped Feb27, one pair)
- Michigan (shipped Feb28, two pair)
- South Carolina (shipped Mar1, two pair)

I haven't looked closely at the tracking to see why / how they got bunched together, but... hey, deliveries are good :waytogo:

Carlos shipped four this past week, one to Germany and three to the US. All but today's shipment have cleared Brazil customs and are headed to their destination countries.
