The O ring from the upper manifold that seals the spider is what I used. It took a bit of manipulation but it seals now.
That is what I decided to do as well. I placed it around the opening, held it down using the cap to a MAF sensor that I had on hand, then "tacked welded" it in place with four spots of Gorilla Glue super glue. Then a day later, I added four more spots in between the others, for a total of 8 spots.

The following are pics with the 4 original super glue spots, each 90 degrees apart:

I have another of the same O-ring/gasket on order, and I'm going to place that on top of the first one, and secure it in place with more super glue. I think both together will provide a better seal. I'll add some Shin Etsu silicone grease to the O-rings once both are secure in place.

All in all, should provide a pretty good seal.

I searched high and low for just a part number for the original seal, and I do not think GM/ACDelco ever made one available. There's another thread elsewhere on the net that mentions a part number, but that part number is for a completely different part.

Well, that looks like the route I will have to take. I am dumbfounded that somebody doesn’t make a replacement for this part. I have a beautiful ‘03 low mileage Silverado that has developed a vacuum leak and this is the only spot I can find … the rubber part has pretty much perished. Very weird there is no replacement that I could find.

Agreed.
I had to add silicon to mine to improve the sealing as per post #11 and that makes it a PITA to remove/refit compared to how it should be.
I did note the dimensions of the seal with the intention of researching if such a seal exists for any other application. Visually (but not dimensionally), it is very similar to the seal that 2WD models have behind their front wheel bearings. Maybe a suitably sized seal exists for a larger truck's hub.

If you can get accurate measurements of the original, you can probably find something suitable from McMaster-Carr or Fastenal. McMaster has a gigantic selection of O-rings.

Not an O ring but a steel backed seal with internal elastomer lip that presses into a recess in the plastic TB cowl.
I was going to give the dimensions but can't find them. When I do find them....

I too think it is stupid that Felpro or Mahle do not make them. Almost ALL of these trucks need one now. Then again mine was getting brittle where the plastic meets the metal clip that holds it down. Luckily GM still has the one for my Van and Rockauto sells it reasonably. The van one is different though, the air inlet faces the radiator.

If you ordered it and it arrives, can you let us know if the sealing ring is removeable or if it appears to be bonded to the plastic? If removeable, I might go ahead and buy one of these to try and get the sealing ring off.

Sealing ring presses into them. In fact the one I recieved was not even fully inserted by the manufacturer.

Alright. I placed an order with Rock Auto as well. $56.85 after 5% promo code. Well, beats having a constant vacuum leak or having to source a brand new intake (or consistently going to salvage yards and hoping the seal is good enough).
