Thats great advice, I haven't heard of people recommending going to libraries since the internet started. Or even knowing what Libraries are even capable of like the Worldcat innerlibrary loan program.

My hats off to you good sir!

Sincerely,
-Rich

P.S. I havent used Post Script in a long time but thought this would be a good time to try it out again. :)

Finally got my oil pump changed and it did help. At a hot idle it was at 8psi with the new HV oil pump hot idle oil pressure is about 18psi.
So i got about a 10psi increase.
Now ill just drive it and see what happens.

Sounds about right when bumping to HV pump. I had a rebuilt 305 before that had poor oil pressure. Machine shop screwed something up on the build and we could not find what it was. Ended up just throwing HV pump at it to solve the issue.

My gauge reads like 75 psi cold, and 55 psi hot. So I'm changing the pump and the sending unit. That can't possibly be right, I don't think.

I know we're talking 454s here, but my 4.3L V6 truck has had similar readings the entire time I've owned it. On cold starts sometimes it will peg the gauge at 80 PSI. I had the sending unit changed at the dealer years ago because I had the same thoughts you had, and it actually read 3-5 PSI higher after that.

Huh. That's crazy. And yeah. On cold (for Texas) winter mornings it absolutely pegs the gauge. My old K3500 would barely do 20 cold, and only like 4 hot. So I figured there couldn't be any way this was accurate reading at that psi. But after you said that, I may just leave the pump alone. I like having good pressure.

Mine will peg the guage cold in the winter. It runs about 40 hot at anything more than idle. I finally installed a new sending unit, when the original was dropping pressure at highway speeds. It had been a bit irratic for years. I don't recall the new sending unit changing anything except the irratic behavier. Maybe I'll drive the truck tomorrow..... I'm still waiting for nice weather, but the snow/salt is gone.

My gauge would sit around 45-50 PSI cold, and then 20ish warmed up, and below 20 hot.
So I had the sender replaced and it was a lot more accurate, pressure verified with a tester and it sat at almost 80 cold, 35 hot.

Then the sender failed so now it sits wrapped above the gauge face once there's any throttle applied, it'll drop down to actual readings when I let off.

Is it possible to use the L19 accessory drive on the L29? I'm wondering because this would shift the A/C compressor to the passenger side. Then you could replace the intake with a standard dual plane style intake. This would provide options for making more power.

Just wondering
Thanks
Craig
