I don't have a larger MAF yet, haven't been able to determine if its actually a choke point, I'll probably swap it at some point just to see.

On the topic of TB's and MAF's; don't mess with aftermarket stuff, just get used LS stuff, as Supercharged suggested.

Yeah, I figured the LS stuff would be cheaper, $330 or whatever it is for a BBK, or maybe $50 for a 6.0 or maybe an 8.1 TB? Would either of those work?
**** I need to research more.

As long as they are cable driven and have the same bolt pattern, it should work. I don't know which ones do for sure, maybe @Supercharged111 does? Either way, a different TB needs to be adjusted for in the tune.

I have an LS1 TB to try out. Those are 78mm and have the same bolt pattern. I'm pretty sure the 99+ LS trucks were all DBW and I know the 8.1 was all DBW. Looks like stock can only be punched out to 78mm before the wall between the IAC cavity starts getting dangerously thin.

I know that 99-00 LS powered trucks were DBC. I believe that 01 is as well.

You're right, they used a different color return spring than the LS1 and possibly different throttle arm now that I think of it. Gotta wonder if those can be punched out.

So that's a no to punching out an LS1 throttle body, they have the same restriction as the Vortec throttle bodies.

I realize to those of you who don't tune, I'm probably speaking Chinese so here's a comparison of a log I took that plots RPM against throttle position and spits out a MAP value. Very useful for determining downshift points. As you can see, the 454 needs a lot more throttle angle to produce the same MAP as the 1500. This is the 1500 before the supercharger.

After some quick and dirty math, a 97mm throttle body on the 454 would act like a 75mm on the 350 so I think the 90mm Chinese TB is going to be my Huckleberry. I was worried it'd be too big, here's how I got there.

(75mm/350ci)=(X/454)

Solve for X, X=97. Probably not the most scientific method, but a ballpark at least. There's only about 400 RPM difference between the 2 engines and this one gets a bigger supercharger so I think I can justify the 90.

Probably want to use cross sectional area.

D1=Diameter of 350 TB
D2=Diameter of 454 TB

(Pi*D1^2/4)/350 = (Pi*D2^2/4)/454

D2= ((454/350)^(1/2))*D1=85.4 mm
