Once I tear down is there way to test injectors before going and dropping money on a new set of spiders
Sure. There's enormously-expensive "special tools" that almost no non-professional is going to have.

MAYBE you can find 'em used, on eBay for a couple hundred dollars.

Might as well just upgrade to the newer electronic style and leave the spider headaches behind.

So let me ask you guys this...the obs trucks are getting hard to find that's not chopped up or beat up. This was my grandads trucks... I was planning on fixing this up and selling it but really thinkging about selling my 99 tacoma 4x4.

I daily 99 tacoma with 338k miles...but it's costing me a lot in gas 90 miles round trip daily.

Before I spend alot on injectors and time to fix this 5.0. Would it be worth it to find a 350 to build midly and through in the truck. I mean if I fix the balljoint and just drive it with a miss whats the worst it can happen for while all it needs is to go get gas for lawnmowers and maybe a tirp to the home depot every now and again.

The misfire destroys the catalytic converter(s), and drives the O2 sensor to report a false "lean" condition. The computer compensates by enrichening the mixture, leading to poor fuel economy and increased cylinder-wall and ring wear.

In the meantime, the engine is a gross polluter.

I would fix what's wrong with the 305, while building a 350 in the background. If you re-use the stuff that GM engineered well and port the heads yourself you can build a nice 350 for dirt cheap.

I found a 350 decently cheap....how different is the spiders off the 350 vs the 305. If I bought it could i use the injectors to fix the 305 and build the 350

Have you been using the same lead throughout?

I wouldn't put a 350 in there unless the 305 died due to neglect. Now, I wouldn't spend any money hopping up a 305 (not again, anyway..) but to keep one going? Sure. In Vortec form, they aren't bad at all. Run it and ignore what you read about 305 vs 350 and all the trash your peers have told you.
