If it's spinning but not firing off, it could be the ignition module inside the distributor. Another possibilty is water contaminated fuel, but you'd have other running problems, or dying fuel pump.I have a 98 Chevy c1500. It happens sparingly but some days my truck just won’t start. Battery, Alt and Starter have been tested over and over and checked good every time. If I let the truck sit after a failed start for a few hours it’ll magically work fine again for a few months. Anyone else ever have a problem like this?

I know this isn't a "engine question" but can somebody please explain to me why gt139l locking fuel cap(genuine gm) does not work for 98 suburban c1500????. But yet it list 92-97 c1500 suburban capable ....

That's what I'm seen but theres no oem gm lockable cap for 98? I see a ton of aftermarket but dont know which brand to choose. I figured there all cheap.Assuming I'm looking at the right diagrams (I might not be, there's a ton of them for '98)... I don't think the GT139L is listed as being compatible with a '98 C1500 5.7L Suburban filler on either Wholesale GM Parts Online or Nemiga Parts. I see that part number referenced in some of the other '98 fuel filler diagrams though, like one that appears to be for fleetside pickup beds. No idea what the difference is...
So long story short, I don't know. But the GM parts diagrams seem to agree that the GT139L won't fit your '98 C1500 'burb.
Awesome. I saw stant but didnt know the quality of it. I feel like everything else, it's a gamble for the lock to work or sel to stay off. But if all else fails I'll try stant and roll the dice lol.I don't know why it doesn't show to fit, but that looks like the locking gas cap I have on my 99 Burb. Maybe the confusion is that the 800 series trucks used a different cap( the one that just twists in and locks as opposed to the screw in one our trucks use). I remember filling the 06 and it's the twist and lock style. Glad we're not driving that one now with its very thirsty 6.0!
The aftermarket one I use is Stant brand; we sold them in our parts store for years and I have had good luck with them. Even when gas was cheap, Dad had locking gas caps on every vehicle we had.
