The square body trucks had a woodgrain option for a few years; we used to have a Burb that had it( the formerly caddy powered one). It was a 75, and I knew a mechanic that had a 74 C10 long bed with a tired 454 in it that he ran straight 50 weight oil in it because of the bad valve guides, and that truck had the factory woodgrain option too. This truck was dark blue metallic, and the Burb was a gold metallic kinda like pagan gold, very brass looking color. IIRC the Burb was called a Suburban Estate, had some neat looking emblems on the rear quarter panel. But the woodgrain wouldn't look good with all colors. I think this option was fairly rare, never seen very many even back in the day. And it was probably a 73-4-5 thing, not after that....
On the square body truck, the woodgrain is inside the side trim, like the deluxe two tone color would be. On the 400 series, since they don't have that style of trim, it would look weird in my opinion.

Yea, the doors on my '74 are off a ,73 and were woodgrain, so I decided to do the rest of the truck.

(I was attempting to match the original paint, as I thought that if all the paint was as chipped up as the doors, it would take your eye off the bad bodywork (I dry brushed fake rust around the real rust on the bottom of the truck in order to match the door).

I tried doing the woodgrain by hand, but it looked like crap, so I just did everything brown (I was going to order some vinyl woodgrain later on, but never got around to it).

I've seen a Burb floating around the internet with wood grain down the middle, tried looking for it but can't find it unfortunately. From what I remember of seeing it, it didn't look right. The square body's that had the option pulled it off nicely and had extra trim to help compliment it and contain it.

Would you believe that these pads only have 7000 miles on them, the drivers front caliper was hanging up.

It's all good now, but I discovered another issue with related to my little accident.

The sway bar link on the other side is broken as well, also I think the sway bar might also be bent. Well the truck is good enough for now since it might actually stop for once.

Have you ever changed the front brake hoses or are they still original? They collapse internally when they wear out, and that'll lock the calipers up super quick! Went through this on my Burb 3 years ago, when it locked the right front brakes up enough to catch them on fire. I know you have spent some money on your truck already, but brake hoses are cheap insurance that this won't happen. It is no fun at all to see actual flames in your wheel well!

No I haven't, but I as highly considering it since I had that happen on my '89 k2500 light duty truck. I just couldn't afford hoses at the time.

I'll change them out as soon as I do the rear brakes (I have to fix a leaking axle seal at the same time; I actually already did them, but one of the seals already failed).

The brakes seem about 100 times better, so I think the hoses aren't too bad.

OK cool! Just wanted to pass along my experience. Before that happened, the Burb was stopping fine, though, so you don't get much warning that it's going to collapse like that.
