I am building one of those motors. Changing to brodix heads, forged pistons and rods. Bigger cam. Uses 58x setup. Started with a used one is the reason for all the changes. Wondering if accessories from 8.1l would fit. Even have 8.1l at the local yard, but they want a lot for accessories just to try

The 4.250" stroke can make a huge increase in low end torque. Because the rpm range has been shifted lower the stock fuel system should be fine albeit with a custom tune. However, the biggest issue is fitment. The tall deck engine is .400" taller than a standard BBC. The intake spacers are readily available but exhaust clearance can be an issue because the engine is taller and wider. The distributor hold down ring will need to be machined off and a new one put on or the original distributor won't meet the oil pump drive and cam gear.

I would get a rotating assembly and rebuild a standard deck height block.

Piston and rods are out of 8.1l.(clarity edit: piston is 20 over compared to 8.1) Cam also, the rest standard l29 based. Factory double roller. Has the oil pump drive stock(no distributor needed if 58x efi)

8.1 and L29 have the same bore, the 8.0 bore is .02 larger.

The 488 mentioned uses pistons that are .020 larger than the L29 454 and 8.1 pistons is what I was saying.
I understood your post to mean you had stock bore 8.1 pistons.

Sorry, mainly wanted to carry the point that rod is metric and piston uses metric pin. Although rods are forged, the hardware used for the rod cap is relatively weak if pushing a lot more power than factory. Both direct replacements for 8.1l(piston when bored 20 over).
Push rods are also appeared to be the same length as ones used in a 8.1l
