Went to get my fuel rails out of the suburban so I can install my new injectors, and found that my headliner was wet. Upon further inspection I found that water had run down the rear pillar and under my carpet. Looks like I have a little more interior work to do. In guessing my new third brake light is leaking, but the rear is under the carport in the dry now. It could also be leaking from the roof rack possibly too, even though I've never had them off. I'm thinking of sanding the floor where the rust is starting and fiberglassing over the small hole. The underside has no rust at all. I'll go over the floor with por15 and install some kilmat to help with exhaust drone. What do you all think? Makes me sick that its rusted in the floor.

I removed the carpet and drivers side trim entirely, and got to sanding away the loose, bubbly paint so the POR15 could adhere to the surface rust. I ended up using the POR15 as the resin for the fiberglass patch as I have read that you can do that. Once the second coat dries, I'm going to scuff it and go over it with some storm grey metallic to make it look nicer. I have Kilmat on the way, and used some butyl tape to seal the roof holes for the 3rd brake light to take care of the leak I had. I'd like to order some new rear door seals for added insurance too. I feel a lot better about the rust now!

I've almost finished installing my Kilmat insulation in the cargo area of Storm. I opted for the 80 mil thickness over 50 mil for added sound deadening to help with exhaust drone. I'm very impressed with how well it installed. My LMC truck weatherstripping came in as well and I installed it also. If I have enough Kilmat left, I'd like to insulate up to the rear window on the passenger side where my exhaust exit will be to reduce noise inside even more.
I'm hoping that the machine shop will start on my engine in a week as it'll be 3 weeks since he said he could start on it. I'd love to have it back together and on the road by the end of August, but we shall see!

Put a Helmholtz resonator on the tail pipe and then you don't have to worry about drone. They fit well on the top of the arch going towards the front of the rig, there are some pics in my build thread. I've got one on my 454, works wonders.

I feel like that would greatly effect the sound of my 6.2's cam and would hide some of the lopiness. That is a good idea for something mostly stock though!

Doesn't change the sound of the exhaust. It cancels the waves that cause drone, there is no media to muffle, and no actual exhaust "passes" through it, it's a deadend pipe.

I am still waiting on the machine shop to start on my engine. I'm being patient because if all works out, I'll be able to sell my daily suburban and have plenty of money to pay for the engine work.
I've been hunting for a long time, and I've finally found a car I've been wanting! I just brought home a 1999 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi last night to be my new daily. I call it "White Lightning" since its white and is decently quick with the supercharged L67. It's not perfect, and needs some mechanical work, but for $800 I cannot complain!

Just watch for the front cradle rust. I had a '98 that looked mint, but the motor was about to fall out...
