Oh, so if you really want an up grade, why not a 4L80E. But its not really needed.

I really would like a plug in play unit. 4l80e ideal but not willing to do all the mods needed. I like the 4l60e. Just wish they were made of titanium. Trans shops around here lost my trust. This one currently I have is from gm so I'm hoping the guys who built it didnt rush. Also there supposedly some upgraded parts they put in it.

We have a few good shops around me. I look at whats available on Summit, but Im not to sure about a mail order trans. A coworker bought one from a shop in Fla. It was a POS. He had to reuse his old valve body.

As for a 383 stroker, yea, I like them, but I kind of want to keep my truck numbers matching. The last person I talked to at a car show, who owns a shop that does engine rebuild work, said He could build my engine, 383 it, and do a Holley sniper EFI for around $6500. Thats a lot but its not. Thing is, I still want my dailey driver.

I think they can be built to vortec specs. 383 stroker has been around in some configuration for a long time. Vortec heads are generally accepted as great for a small block if the rest of the engine is set up for them. Excellent for street performance use. Lots of guys use them on TBI engines but you need the hybrid intake which is kinda pricey IIRC.
Vortec also has better valve train and cam.
I guess you could call it " the evolved small block ".

Yes. It would be pulling my engine rebuilding it with performance parts, 202 valve heads, a big cam, flat top pistons ect. Along with a Holly sniper EFI and a trans controller I guess. He would do all of the work and get the truck running rite. So like I said, its a lot of money, but its not.

Im no where ready to take that steep yet. And I want a dailey driver, not a race track truck. To me, a classic car or truck, and at 25 years old it is a classic, so next year for me, a vehicle is worth more or is more desirable than one that has been swapped over to something else. With all of that, I just can not have a slow vehicle. So I want to find a happy medium. When I get on the gas, I think if I just had a little more. LOL thing is, will I still feel that way, if I did.

Whats going to be a trip, is, when I do bring my truck to a transmission shop, will they know how to use the shifter. Or even better than that, will the idiot at WalMart know how when I get my next set of tires.

I like the shifter/console add on. That is the same console my wife bought me for Frank. What is the console from?
