I just put a 3/4 ton rear and springs in mine so I should be good to go for just about anything! It squatted pretty bad before when the weight piled on.
Did you used a 14 bolt FF? I have the 14 bolt SF would like to put the FF in. But then I would have two different rims or change hubs to a six bolt and have disc brakes.

on my old 73 chevy heavy half ton i had 3.2 ton of stone in the bed... on my new truck(2009) ive hauled 5.5 ton on a car trailer.... i tell the guys with diesels i haul more with my 4.8L half ton than they ever will with thier 2500 **** apart or dirtymax >:)

People overload their trucks all the time, every now and then it fails and someone gets really hurt.

Bad idea.

If you mean the 73 1/2 ton, by 4.8 you mean the old 292 by any chance? Awesome motor have one in my 82 project

If it fits in/on my truck, and it'll move it, I'll haul it. If it won't do it, I need a bigger truck. My 94 in my sig has hauled more weight than most duallys ever do.

70 pounds? That's the heaviest square bale I've ever heard tell of.

New York farmers love big heavy wire tied bales that average 65 to 70 pounds (our norm is 50 to 55 pound nylon string) even better was about forty five years ago when my dad started, the bales our company was hauling were three wired bales that weighed over 110 pounds a piece which they stopped making for the simple reason that they were impossible for most people to move around

and I forgot to mention with this load the cab and bed were actually touching. ECLB 1500s had two major disadvantages I found: no rear wheel traction and the 1500 frame was too weak at that length and flexed like crazy

Yes sir. Didn't notice that was an eclb when I looked at it, I agree about half ton frames, too light duty even in a short-wheelbase IMO. That's funny about the bales, usually around here they're about 50 pounds or so, never seen anything close to that big (except for the really big square ones I guess, which are like 2 round bales basically).
My truck (k2500 eclb) has zero traction in 2wd. But the frame doesn't flex much under load, which is awesome. Only problem is, she likes her fuel...
