I can't find a CLEAR answer on which computer I need, or what I need to do to the two that I do have.. We all know my info by now, but, I'll put here just in case.

89 RCSB 5-speed, 4.3L to 5.7L (from a 94 K2500 auto) swap.

My OEM computer does not have a service number on it. There are no labels nor identifying marks at all, except for the VIN (which I wrote on there myself) and "V6 5-speed" written in black marker.

The V8 computers' service number is 16196395.

What do I need to make it run, no check engine light, and pass emissions, all at the same time?

Thanks in advance.

We all, will not memorize who owns what year ,make and model. Take 3 seconds and put it in your post. Many requests will get skipped without basic information.
At least a pcm from a V8, '94, then reflashed or reset to operate with your optioned model.

Uhm... it is in my post. 89 RCSB.

Oh, I get it. 89 Chevy K1500 4x4.

Does that help?

Wow I definitely thought there would be a plethora of opinions by now. Well, I guess I can just plug in the V8 computer and see what happens - that is - as soon as I get the exhaust installed.

If you're up to the task, look at a company Dynamic EFI. The product you should be looking at is called the EBL - Flash 2. You'll have to do some minor adjustments. Just make sure your service number is open that's compatible with that system.

What does that mean?

Also, I've seen their website. I'm skeptical. I guess contacting them would be the best move.

EDIT: I just looked at the website in better detail. Those mooks are only 2 hours from me. That is potentially good news.

Skeptical about what?

What does that mean?
RBob lists which ECMs are compatible with the EBL Flash-II right there on the the Product Page. Your 89 ECM is probably a 1227747.

"What Else is Required:

  • A BIN editor (such as TunerPro)
  • Laptop*** for data logging, minimum requirements:266 MHz, 32 MB RAM, XP, 800x600 screen resolution, USB port
  • ECM to be converted to an EBL system. The ECM can be anyone of thefollowing:

1227137 '86 Safari, Astro
1226868 '85 MonteCarlo
1227429 '86-'88 S10 2.8l
1227746 Truck
1227747 Many Trucks & Vans
1228062 Blazer
1228063 '88 Camaro, Firebird
1228746 '89-'92 Camaro, Firebird, Caprice
1228747 Truck
1228838 '90 Lumina, 3.1l
16136965 '91-'94 Caprice,Roadmasterwagon
16144288 Blazer
16146299 Truck
16149405 '93 TransSport, Silhouette, Lumina: APV, 3.1l
16171199 '94-'95 trucks, MT
16196391 '95-'95 Lumina, TransSport, 3.1l
16196396 '94-'95 trucks, MT"

I sent him one of my 1227747 from my 88 and he installed the EBL daughter board in it. That made it go from 160 Baud rate to 8192. It has the Learn VE capability so, you can tune in your fueling tables with it. With a WBO2 you can tune up to WOT too. It has 8 Flash Banks so you don't have to "Burn" your chip anytime you want to modify your tune.

Typo. I meant to say, "Just make sure your service number is one that that's compatible with that system."

No, they are completely legit. I've done business with them. Bobr is a known forum lurker and knowledgeable beyond words! He's very responsive to tech support emails!

AH! So glad you asked. Why do I need all that extra stuff on their website programed into my ECU? Like, mount it in the dash, plug it in, turn the key. Simple.

It's like paying for a new car with all these happy horse $h1t electronics and gadgetries that people JUST DON'T NEED.

Convince me I'm wrong.
