Hi,
I have a 98 K1500 with a 305 w/ 4L60E.
I am looking at buying a 350/ 880 block complete engine with PCM out of a 2000 2500 W/ 4L80E
I am planning on bolting this engine to my tranny. (the 4L60E)
Does it matter which computer I use?
Would it need to be programmed?
Is the wiring the same?

I am a novice backyard mechanic and will be doing this project one youtube video at a time...
What other helpful advice do you have about bolting these together???
I appreciate any help!

Does it matter which computer I use?

Yes. You will want to use a PCM that is programmed for your specific driveline combo.

Would it need to be programmed?

If you plan on using either one of the PCMs you'll have, yes. Either program the 2000 PCM for a 4L60E, or program your stock '98 PCM for the 350.

Is the wiring the same?

Probably, but to be sure I would download the '98 and '00 GM factory service manuals here and compare the pinouts for the PCMs.

If you don't see the years you need in the first post, keep scrolling. Other members have added to the collection over time. I know '98 and '00 are both in there somewhere.
