Mine doesn't seem to have a knock sensor. Do I need one? Is it important?

Yes, you'll get an SES light for it and won't pass smog. Edit: plus it won't run right, timing will be wrong, probably won't go into Closed Loop either.

Got it installed today. I'm a bit worried because when I first started up my truck I could hear knocking under the hood in drive. And it hesitates some when pressing the gas. So far no check engine light has come on. I'm hoping I don't have a serious problem on my hands. Anyone have advice or a guide to diagnosing the issue? I'm gonna take a look at it tomorrow.
