Goodmorning Folks! I hope everyone is having a great Monday. I am looking to replace my rusty gas tank, sending unit, fuel pump, and some really rust fuel lines near the tank. Its time!. My gas gauge also doesn't read right it works when it wants to haha.
I was wondering if any of you guys had some quality advice and maybe some part numbers, as well as thoughts on what the best brands are.
This is for a 1990 GMC k2500 350/turbo 400 trans/single cab 8' bed/ 34 gallon tank

The job seems pretty straight forward as I do have a transmission jack should make quick work of it but you know how it goes.

Good advice so far, straps are a must in the rust belt.

Also while the tank is down, that's a perfect time to inspect fuel pump wiring for pinches, burns, etc. And inspect/replace fuel lines and the rear brake line.

awesome I really appreciate that! What site are you looking at ?
Rock auto carries pretty much everything. They have the lines too, but most of them are Dorman and I'd bet you can do better elsewhere.

Get some extra hands and pull the bed, doing it all from the bottom is a nightmare, one that I'm currently living.

I went through rock auto, the "kits" don't all come with the hanging bolt Make sure you have that before starting I had to buy one at autozone today.

did this a few months ago on my 92 k2500. if your fuel lines are crusty then be very careful with them/ expect to crack one.

other than that, it is very straight forward job, took no time at all getting the old tank out and the new tank in. having a buddy or a couple floor jacks help. I ordered everything off rock auto and all went well

I thought about getting rid of that long 34 gallon tank on mine and putting a suburban 42 gallon tank where the spare tire goes.
