Tranny selection Chevy 7.4 454

What tranny would you recommend for a 93 Chevy Silverado Dually 7.4, 454 Big block Chevy? Thinking along the lines of racing.

The 4L80E that came in it. (Assuming it's auto)

I would expect that to depend greatly on what kind of racing and if its track only.

Depends on what racing, but like already said the tranny it came with, 4l80 if it's auto.

May I ax what kind of racing one does with a 1 ton dually? Pulling?
Whatever, 4L80 is really the only good choice. Only limit to those transmissions is your wallet.

TH400

Drag race only? TH400. Bolt it on and hook up one vacuum line and the reverse switch.
Streetable? 4L80E. Spend lots of money on a controller, but enjoy the overdrive.
