What tires do you recommend for my two-wheel-drive regular cab short bed 1989 Silverado? The original tires were size 225/75 by 15 according to the service parts identification label. I need to stay with 15 inch tires because I don't want to replace my original alloy wheels. I live in Alabama so I do not drive in snow and being a two-wheel drive truck I don't need an off-road tire. A smooth and quiet ride with good wet traction is important to me.

Any suggestions?

I'm running Cooper Cobra Radial G/T 275/60R-15s on my 88. They're nice and quiet plus give you a little more traction. The 90 454SS came with the same size tires on 15X7" rims so, when Discount tire says they can't do that, you can ask them to look it up.

BTW, didn't your truck come with 235/75-15s not 225s?

According to the label attached to the driver’s side door my truck was equipped with 225/75 by 15 tires. I thought I had seen this tire size information on the service parts identification label but I guess it was on the other label.

Best looking tire size ever on a stock-ish 2wd truck. I’m running the same brand on the suburban and we love them.

That's interesting, my 88, built 3 months before yours and same GVWR, came with 235s. Maybe an option for one of ours?

I think 225 was standard and 235 must have been optional. My truck has 15x6JJ wheels and your truck has 15x7JJ wheels. What was the original style wheel on your truck?
