Sorry, wasn't directly referencing your tools or technique - just throwing that ratcheting crimp tool out there as a lot of DIY'ers are using the cheapo dent maker that you find at the parts house.

I agree with you on the solder. The collection of crimp connectors in my toolbox are simply the regular style, and the heat-shrink style without solder.
