Well, l got the old man truck apart, replaced the +cable that goes to the starter ($11 at a battery shop vs. $110 at parts store). It was corroded, but also the small stud on the solenoid was a wee bit loose. Since that wire goes to the ignition and activates the solenoid to make the engine crank....might be what part of the problem was! It's held in place with a round metal speed nut that l tightened with vise grips. Got everything back together today and the truck starts great. But I'm getting a little oil in it so l think it's going to need the intake manifold gaskets done. What does that usually cost in the average shop? Thanks again for all y'all 's advice and information!
