Spring perch tabs bent

New to the forum. Just got a 93 454 ss. Doing a 4/6 drop and noticed when installing the springs the upper spring perch has tabs. And some are bent. Its not allowing the spring to seat properly.

Has anyone had this issue?

Can i take a grinder to the tabs and cut them off?

I would try to bend them back as best I could... don't want the spring sloshing around in the pocket. My 2 cents...
