Hi Guys,

I got a new to me 1994 GMC Suburban that the previous owner used for towing a camper . It is outfitted with Michilin 245/75/r16 load range E tires, Blistein shocks (24-020428) and timberlands ? I mainly use it for longer road trips (400+miles) and only tow a 18' alum boat on occasion but the ride is way to rough for me. I dropped the tire pressure down to 65lbs and it is a little better.

After reading a few post about rough riding suburbans My questions are :

1) Will running lower tire pressure at constant highway speeds cause a blow out ?

2) How low of pressure can I safely go with load range E tires and highway speeds ?

3) Are the shocks in the picture the ones people are using for heavy towing and would I gain much ride comfort by changing them ?

4) The bump stops have about 1" of clearance , Is this normal for a stock 94, suburban ?

Any advice on what I should do with this setup to improve ride quality is much appreciated.

Many Thanks,

I ran 35lbs I think, and rode much better. As long as not towing anything super heavy, or pump em up to 40, then should be fine. Try it, pull over and check the temp half way thru. Get rid of the Bilsteins, they ride rougher than ****. Get some OEMs or whatevers, anything will ride better than those. Also, loose the Timbrens. Maybe when you have a heavy load they are fine, but if not hauling then not really needed.
