If you plug your VIN into GMPartsGiant, it should tell you which pinion seal. Have you tried it?

OK. Pinion seal has nothing to do with what tranny you have.

Need to know year and whether 10 bolt(8.5" ring gear) or 12 bolt(9.5" ring gear)
I know that, but when I try to look up the pinion seal on parts websites it asks me what transmission I have as one of the filters.

Darn. Okay, well, crawl under your truck and look at the transmission. There's usually an engraving or plate on one side of the transmission. Hard to miss.

opinion seal, there isnt a "rear end" section on this forum. lol.
Perhaps a moderator will move this thread to "Axles + Brakes".

That would be a 14b lol.;)
Everyone calls it a "14 bolt" because of the number of visible bolts holding the cover to the housing. It "should" be called a "12-bolt" because that's the number of bolts holding the ring gear to the differential case, but almost no-one actually uses the "12-bolt" terminology.

Given that this is a 1500 series, with a small-block and a 4-speed overdrive automatic trans, I'd be surprised that it has a 12/14 bolt semi-float 9.5" ring gear axle--although it's possible--and it certainly has a TH700R-4 transmission, 'cause the 4L80E hadn't been invented yet.
