I know that, but when I try to look up the pinion seal on parts websites it asks me what transmission I have as one of the filters.OK. Pinion seal has nothing to do with what tranny you have.
Need to know year and whether 10 bolt(8.5" ring gear) or 12 bolt(9.5" ring gear)
If you plug your VIN into GMPartsGiant, it should tell you which pinion seal. Have you tried it?

Everyone calls it a "14 bolt" because of the number of visible bolts holding the cover to the housing. It "should" be called a "12-bolt" because that's the number of bolts holding the ring gear to the differential case, but almost no-one actually uses the "12-bolt" terminology.That would be a 14b lol.
