Part Identification

Having a difficult time identifying what part this yellow filter is. Its located left side of radiator facing cab. Has two hoses one run directly to radiator and other to upper passenger side of transmission. Another line from transmission returns to radiator.

Looks like to me, that someone put an inline transmission filter. Good practice for one that sees hard use, but very rare that someone actually does it.

Aftermarket trans oil filter installed between your radiator's internal trans cooler and the send / return lines.

That looks like a good idea. Not the best execution but looks like it works.

Thanks for feedback. Wish I would have known about this before changing the transmission fluid.

You can swap out the filter now, it'll be alright. When the engine is off there isn't any pressure ripping through there.

Perhaps a moderator will move this thread out of "Engines" and into "Transmissions".

At least when you get the filter off, you will be able to see the part number and cross it to your preferred filter brand.
But how many things are wrong on the installation.
