Im looking to start a project, and need an OBS frame. Before I go hunting for them, are they all the same? From 88-98? Ill be needing a 4x4 frame, and just wanting to comfirm that they are the same, or no minor differences.

Thanks!

I believe that 95 may be different since the 95's are a unique transmission as well. But I think its cross member related. Im not sure if its the frame thats different or not. I do know for a fact that 2wd vs 4wd are different and obviously 1500, 2500, 3500 are different.

Unless its an F44 "Heavy half" truck...then i believe its the same chassis as a 2500 just with 6 lug drivetrain and mounting points.

This is going to be a 1500 project, and im sure theres tons of em around. Ive never seen a 'F44' truck/frame/anything. I would assume that about 99% are just the 'normal' 1500's...

I always thought the differences where cosmetic. Besides the OBD1/OBD2 stuff like motor/trans, but mounting points should be the same?

Thanks guys!

I'm guessing there are differences between a 2500 and a 1500 front frame section at least.

The 9.5 front diff won't go into a 1500 frame without a set of drop brackets or hacking off a diff mount.

Upper control arm mounting points are also different between 1500 and 2500.

In a nutshell, an "F44" rpo code truck is a half ton frame (9.25 front diff) with heavier bars and heavier rear springs.

All 4x4 1500 frames are the same, regardless of being F44 or not, F44 was just 3/4ton springs and t-bars and 6-lug 14-bolt diff.

2WD's are completely different then 4x4 frame.

i dont understand where all this non-sense of 1995 4L60E's being any different then any other ones came from. physically they are all the same, its the wiring that is different thats it, thats all.

i have heard everything from crossmembers being different to the bellhousing pattern being different (which really confuses me cause SBC/BBC have had the same pattern since their birth im sure)

Ohhh so the F44 just has the springs that a lot of 1500 guys swap in for lift...heh nice...so really 1500 keys in an F44 truck would have the same effect as using the 1500 keys in a 1500 that has had the 3/4 tbar swap done.

surprise, az
And obviously there are the ext cab, reg cab, crew cab, short bed, and long bed differences in the frame as well but any 1500 4x4 frame will interchange
