yes that definitely could be the issue... There are definitely 2 different style/part numbers for the clutches that don't interchange on the gm versions. there could be more I don't know about.... I'm no expert, but I've done a couple conversions with the nv4500's..... And I did a lot of reading on parts interchanging when i was rebuilding one of mine.
