i want my truck to be quick and black

3.73 is a great gear. Besides, when you go from a stock gear, such as 3.08, or 3.42, to 3.73's, you don't have to run a ring-gear spacer (EWWW!!) or change the carrier to another series. 3.73's will wake up your performance considerably. Just remember that when you do this to make the change to your computer, via a hand held tuner.

not on these truck you dont... it only if your gear is lower then a 3.08 which most trucks dont come with then you will need one... 7.5 and the 8.5 in the cars come with 2.41 to 2.73 every rare 3.08... you will need to buy a thick gear or a spacer... ive seen in the 7.5 car rear ends have a 2.13 gear!!!

so from 2.13 to 2.73 carrier you need a spacer or a thick gear..
the 3.08 and up carrier you can put a thing gear and be fine...

ive never seen a truck with anything lower then a 3.08....

When replacing a stock 2.56 and numerically lower, the carrier
must be replaced with a carrier of 2.73 or higher.

THAT'S why I come to this site. Learn something new all the time! Gotta remember that I'm an old fart, & most of my experience is with the late '60's to early '70's Chevy Muscle Cars.
