Measure how far the bolts thread into the knuckle, then the depth of the smaller ID hole the socket head screws go in. Make sure your bolts you're using are at least 1/8" shorter than that... otherwise you're bottoming out the bolts (which is what it sounds like happened) or you will have little to no clamping force on the arm to the knuckle. Thus, causing it to stretch and subsequently wallow out the mounting holes.
Use some sort of loc-tite in there too, and ensure you get grade 8 or 9 hardware from somewhere reputable.
