This.My thinking is, I'll have a new engine I shouldn't have to touch for another 20 years. And I don't expect to live that long
Well, kinda I'm getting better flat top pistons for higher compression, moly rings, and 5 whole extra cubes. In terms of bang for buck, it's a lot of money to end up with basically what you got now.
Not much more for the crank, just the clearancing of the block and balancing. Then feeding it, my 46mm TB won't do it, I'll have to go to at least a 50mm from a 7.4LHow much more would a stroker crank cost?

I asked about that and haven't heard if he's gonna do more than the already balanced assy from Scat.Aren't you getting the 350 rotating assembly balanced?
Another $500 or so. I know but, where do you draw the line? Originally all I wanted his to do was clean and assemble the short block, then I'd build it. For $1200 more, he wants to build it. Like I said, I understand his position about others sticking their hands into his build, then coming back at him because the engine failed.if you're already dropping $4000, what's a throttle body?

Long story short my buddy is going to try a new internal harness, shift solenoids and the MPS before the trans comes out.Aren't you close to Jake's performance? maybe give him a try?
I think you are missing the fact your 46mm will feed it just fine. I have set up a 406 under the stock throttle body using the TBI heads. It was not a high reving engine at all. Made its power peak around 4500 rpm. However with the torque it made it easily outran a 350 Vortec turning more rpm. Torque not RPM is what moves a heavy vehicle.Well, kinda I'm getting better flat top pistons for higher compression, moly rings, and 5 whole extra cubes.

With this cam (224/[email protected]), Comp Cams said its power curve is 2000 - 5500. My TC is 2500 stall so, I'm moving my curve up a little. Right now I have it shifting at 5000 and, once I get it dialed in better, I'm gonna try 5500, maybe higher, to see what happens when it shifts from 1 - 2, with the wide gearing gap the 700R4 has. Acording to TCI's calculator a 650 CFM (according to SPR Performace who built mine) is good to ~6000 RPM for a 355I have set up a 406 under the stock throttle body using the TBI heads. In a bigger engine the powerband of that cam will drop. Comp and others rate their "powerband" on a 350 with stock style heads. Cubic inches will decrease the powerband and head flow will increase it. The same cam in a 283 will be alot more radical than it is in a 400 and pull more rpm. With this cam (224/[email protected]), Comp Cams said its power curve is 2000 - 5500. Where with a 383 it's marginal

Then there's the question if my Edelbrock Performer 3704 TBI intake will flow enough too.
