has anyone installed a MSD 6A ignition box in a 1996 vortec 7.4L, C3500 truck. if so did it make a performance difference. I've heard that it will help . just looking for a little more power in my dually.

Complete waste of money on anything close to a stock truck.

A free flowing exhaust and a good PCM tune from someone like Black Bear Performance will make a huge difference in power if you haven't addressed those areas yet.

I slapped an ancient 6T onto my '88 K1500. Couldn't tell a difference in how it ran...until the box died and the engine stalled. Looked pretty on an ignition oscilloscope, though.

Figured I'd send the box back to MSD for repairs, but it's been years and I still haven't gotten around to it.

X2 - unless you're gonna try turning >6K RPM (which your 7.4 probably wouldn't hold together), a waste of money. As @df2x4 said, get it breathing better and then tune it.
