drive it mildly, save your money, do research, and build a nice 350 =)
make sure to get the roller cam vortec block
get some nice shorty headers
port the heads & intake & exhaust to match perfectly
get some beefy rockers
and a nice big torque converter
youll be happy

AC Delco or NGK copper spark plugs, no exceptions for me. As far as wires, cap and rotor: don't get caught up in so-called "performance" parts, which in my experience sometimes turns out worse than OE-replacements. Get whatever is readily available, isn't made in a third-world country, and has a good warranty.

IMO, Get yourself a 350 OP! You'll get more power from the extra cubes and get better fuel mlg than with the 305! The 350 won't have to work as hard!

The only problem is i dont have time nor money to drop a 350 in it. Its not hard to do the little things, which i can just order online. I can do just about anything with that truck, going up steepest hills, draggin tree, pulling people out and all what not. just like a little more ummff when going down the high way. Cause doing 50 i need to down shift to 4th to speed up. That's why i was curious if a new intake would help because i found one or two on Classic Industries. Plugs and wires are soon to come after i decide whats good to get.

If you do not have the time or money for an engine swap, A re-gear is not for you. Unless you have 3.42s and find a smoking deal on a factory 3.73 front and rear differential (wrecked truck or something) and swap them yourself, It'll cost a fortune to get new gears and have them set up properly. PROPERLY is key here, otherwise they will sound like a pack of coyotes going down the road and will permanently damage the gears and the bearings. You can run a aftermarket carb intake with a tbi spacer/adapter that would probably help a little, along with a total tune up, and the tbi mods. The intakes are slightly different, but any non-vortec intake can be modded to fit your heads with a die grinder and a bur bit.
