Looking for help. Need to replace lower radiator hose on a 1990 454ss. All the aftermarket ones are not shaped the way the old one is, thus they all dont fit properly. They dont have the proper bend where it goes around the fan shroud to connect to radiator. They all kink when I have tried to install. General Motors has discontinued the hose. Wondering if this is something others have fallen into and what maybe solutions. GM original part # was 15639031 then interchanged with # 15659614 Thanks

Should probably move this post over to another section like maybe Engine performance and maintenance?? It'd get more views..

Which specific brands and part numbers have you tried that did not fit?

Were any of them Gates 21717, or Dayco 71426 ?

AC Delco 24222L ?

Just guessing here but I'd wonder if it's the same lower hose that fits most of the 454-equipped early GMT400's. I haven't done the lower hose on my '93 C3500 454 yet but probably should. The upper needed it badly as it was corrosion-crust-damaged from the thermostat housing end. Gates 21706 upper as recommended by Rock was correct, and it shows the Gates 21717 lower for my application, and yours.

Gates 21717: "OEM / Interchange Numbers: 15024950, 15039908, 15567838, 15592572, 15639031, 15657361, 15657363, 15659489, 15659499, 15659615, 15659620, 15671763, 15960194"

Going to order the continental 61514. looks more like what I have, especially looks more curvy in the area that the dayco and gates dont have where it needs to be. Thanks

You may have to trim an inch off one or both ends to get the hose to fit. Most hoses are made a little on the long side.

Goodyear hose, now Continental, has or had a kit that came with blue performance blended silicone hoses. Upper, lower, heater, and some small prebent also. The last kit I got from Summit.
