Hello guys,

i have 1993 K2500 suburban with 14 bolts semi float rear axle which i'm going to replace by 14 bolts Full floater out of a 2003 Sierra.
i mesured the lengths and it seems that i'm shorter ( the axle , not me ) by 3" between the weels and 1.5" between the springs. ill over come the springs issue by replacing the pads locations. as to the total width/length , i think that 3" wider axle should do good. ( i can wkiden the front by 3" to get even ) .

the second thing is the front end . i think that i have the 9.25" carrier which is good, but here is the problem : i think i am not sure . how can i determain that it is the 9.25" ? i saw that the reinforcment outer ribs on the housing are different betweem 8.25" to 9.25" but is there something else?

can you tell me if 8,25" carrier was used in a 2500 LD or HD ?
is there another sign ?
in case im right , is there a locker/slip for the 9.25" ?
what bis the best kit that freshen the front end ?

Thanks

Light duty 3/4 ton (6 lug) has the 8.25, Heavy duty 3/4 ton (8 lug) has the 9.25

If it's 8 lug, it's got the 9.25. Here's the 8.25 and 9.25 side by side if you want to double check.

The rear end on your Suburban is already narrower than the front. The wider rear end from the newer truck should bring the rear wheels out flush with the front. I've been looking for one of the newer 14 bolts for mine.

I think the front is around 71" WMS on a k2500. The newer rear end should be 70" replacing the old 67" 14 bolt.
